FCBDD Eligibility and Enrollment

Services are provided to children birth through age 5 who have developmental disabilities and who qualify under standards established by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities and by the Ohio Department of Education.  Services are provided without regard to race, color, sex, religion or national origin.

Early Intervention

The Franklin County Help Me Grow-Early Intervention Program is the first contact for families of children 0-3 years old who have disabilities or suspected of having a disability. Children qualify for Federal Part C services following assessment and evaluation provided through the Franklin County Help Me Grow-Early Intervention Program. When determined eligible, families may choose for their services to be provided by the FCBDD Early Childhood Programs. An Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) will be developed and the Franklin County Early Intervention Service Coordinators will coordinate the development of Family and Child Outcomes and Placement. A Coaching Approach to Early Intervention services is provided by the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

Preschool Special Education

Eligibility is determined by federal and state guidelines. Federal and state regulations require free appropriate public education (FAPE) to be provided for children 3-21 who have been identified with disabilities which require special education and related services designed to meet their unique needs and prepare them for further education, employment and independent living.  Referrals for preschool services provided by FCBDD are made through local school districts. Individual Education Programs (IEP), developed by Local School Districts, are required in order for the FCBDD to provide services to children 3 through 5. For additional information, please refer to the ECE Parent Handbook.

Community Peer Program

Children who are 3-5 years old and who are developing typically may enroll in the FCBDD Peer Program.  Enrollment begins in January and there is a monthly fee for this program.  Contact the ECE Office at      (614)-342-5830 for more information.
